THE GOOSE FOOT STARFISH

Anseropoda placenta, or the goose foot starfish, is named for its incredible body. With its five webbed arms and flattened body, this species is easily recognizable. Red lines extend from their centers to the tip of each arm, with a pale color on the webbed section. They prefer dining on crustaceans, mollusks, and echinoderms (yes, they could be considered cannibalistic). Rarely seen, these animals are distributed around the British Isles. Not much is known about the lifespan of this species, but starfish in general can enjoy a life of anywhere between 5-35 years.
